Designed for youth by youth

The CALSync™ platform was purposely designed in California to center around Children and Youth, and our early prototypes were then hand tested and adjusted by Californians aged 0-25. Frequently asked questions

If you have anything else you want to ask, reach out to us.

    • Do I need insurance?

Not to get started. If you are a California resident and between the ages of 0 and 25 then you qualify for this program. Extended professional support and/or prescription and other medical support may require Medi-Cal or other commercial insurance. All common insurances are accepted.

    • Do I need to tell a parent or guardian if I register?

If you are under 13 then you need parental or guardian consent. If you aged 13 and over then no, it`s up to you.

    • Will my friends know I`ve enrolled?

Not unless you tell them or invite them to your Karla support circle. All information is kept strictly confidential and no one, not DHCS, your school, your employer, your community center will have access to your information.

    • How many counseling sessions can I have

The program is still being designed at this time and this question will be updated based upon the benefit design

    • Do I need my own smart phone to access the program.

No not at all. We recognize many participants may share devices or not have access to a smart device at all. You can talk to our counselors and peers using a shared device in anonymous mode and can use plain SMS or voice calling.

    • How does regisration work?

You'll answer questions to better understand your struggles and goals. Then you will be matched with a coach or counselor and have access to a peer support network.

    • How are the specialists different?

Above all, our specialists care. They create relationships of trust with our participants. This is the foundation of everything we do. The technological element—Karla—is an important extension of our human care.

    • Is this just for those with a diagnosed mental health or substance use issue?

Nearly half of us will experience a behavioral or mental health condition at some point. The challenge is how to be there for those who are dealing with one. That is what the California for All program is about

    • Why is DHCS offering this program?

To improve access to behavioral health support by augmenting the current delivery system with free, on-demand, representative, engaging, and confidential virtual services
